Wawel Town & Viewing Platform

  Wawel 5 ,   Old Town         14 Apr 2025
This seasonal exhibit reminds visitors, via a short animated film, small artefacts and archaeological remnants, that for centuries there was a small town on Wawel Hill outside the castle proper. The film, combined with a detailed model of Wawel Hill in the early 18th century, is rather excellent and does a fantastic job of allowing viewers to imagine what Wawel was like in those times, and how it has changed since.

The main reason for purchasing a ticket, however, is access to the small open-air viewing terrace, which offers great views of the castle, river and city centre. En route you'll also get to walk along the second-floor terraces of the castle, which is quite cool in its own right.

Unlike most exhibits and attractions at Wawel, tickets to this exhibit are plentiful, affordable, and easy to get, even at the very last minute. If you're simply on a romantic walk around the castle grounds, its the perfect thing to add to your itinerary. Tickets can be bought from the Wawel Ticket Office, or online at bilety.wawel.krakow.pl.

Average visiting time: 30mins.
