The painting Annunciation by the Cracovian Master Jerzy, dated 1517-18, was commissioned by canon Jakub Monopedes to be the central part of the triptych at the Saint Michael's collegiate at Wawel. The painting travelled quite a bit, to be finally discovered after 100 years hidden at the attic of the Saint Cross Church in Kraków. The Annunciation by Master Jerzy is considered to be one of the finest Polish examples of art created during the transitional period from the Middle Ages to the Renaissance.
