This doughnut chain has exploded across PL, peddling oversized, fluffy, deep-fried pączki - a uniquely Polish pastry that is so immensely popular it actually has its own holiday (Tłusty Czwartek). The traditional pączek is filled with rose jam, but at Stara Pączkarnia (The Old Doughnut Shop) you'll find dozens of other enticing fillings (at least 15 daily) like Snickers, salted caramel, Nutella, blueberry-cream cheese, cherry-chocolate and more. At this sidewalk window the entire production is on display, and the doughnuts are served fresh and hot out of the oven. At 4zł they're basically the best doughnuts in town, and an essential local eating experience. You'll also find them at ul. Stradomska 18, and in the Basztowa-Lubicz underpass between the Planty and Galeria Krakowska.
