Sunday Jun 8 10:00–18:00       ul. Zamkowa 8, Wieliczka

Celebrating the town's rich heritage of salt mining and extraction, this annual one-day event in Wieliczka - just outside Kraków - blends the excitement of an outdoor family fun fair with the cultural depth of an ethnographic festival. Centered around the courtyard of the Wieliczka Saltworks Castle - a UNESCO World Heritage Site, just like the town’s famous underground Salt Mine - the festival transports visitors back to the days of the Royal Salt Company.

Try your hand at a variety of traditional 17th-century salt industry crafts, including rope-twisting, barrel-making, pottery, papermaking, basket-weaving, metal forging, candle-making, and even artistic salt carving. Special activities for kids include a zipline, salt shaker painting, and a salt dough crafting station. You’ll also find plenty of unique products and artisanal goods showcasing the beauty and versatility of sodium chloride.

To top it all off, the Saltworks Castle will be open during the event, with guides offering special access to parts of the interior normally closed to visitors. A fun and educational outing, this festival highlights why salt was - and still is - worth its, well, salt.
