Krakow has a long history with academics. One of the oldest universities in Europe is the Jagiellonian University after all. However, there are also other universities that focus on engineering, economics, law, art, and agriculture too. During the semester Kraków can even seem like a large college town. One of the local schools has pulled off a feat very special to us here at In Your Pocket. The University of Agriculture in Kraków is an institution that has a School of Brewing, a University Brewery, and a Doctorate in Malting & Brewing. Yes, that's right, they have an educational concentration on making beer! Not only that, they have partnered with craft brewery Brokreacja and Regional Brewery and Restaurant ‘Marysia’ located in Szczyrzyc, to fill our mugs with their first commercial beer a German Dunkel created by one of their PhD candidates Jonas Trummer. The beer called PURE PRIDE is a classic brew based on a German Beer Purity Law (Reinheitsgebot) adopted in Bavaria in 1516, which restricts the use of ingredients to water, barley and hops. If you want to join their launch party and get a taste of the beer, head on over to Bropub on Saturday the 30th of June. A German beer brewed in Poland. How's that for international relations.
