Krakow

Portofino

  ul. Szeroka 9-10 ,   Kazimierz          (+48) 12 423 08 74     more than a year ago

Once an enticing Mediterranean restaurant with outstanding paella on an atmospheric Kazimierz sidestreet, with Portofino's move to Szeroka's prime tourist track, the restaurant seems to have undergone a disappointing transformation into a rather uninspired Polish and Italian restaurant, offering a predictable menu that includes a few obligatory Jewish specialties. Aimed squarely at tourists, those saddled with tired, fussy kids, and having a hard time finding a table at some of the neighbourhoods better offerings may find Portofino to be precisely what's needed to save the evening. Those looking for a truly unique and memorable dining experience in Kraków will be wise to do their research and reserve elsewhere, however.

Delicious food and not over-packed when we visited, unlike most of the surrounding bars and restaurants in Kazimierz. Don't be put off by formal appearances. I had the lamb shank and my husband had the steak- both amazing.

This was one of my favorite places to dine at when I lived in Krakow for 5 weeks. The food is wonderful!
