Pottery from Bolesławiec - a small town in Lower Silesia famous for its ceramics - is one of Poland's most popular exports, and a can't-miss gift for souvenir shoppers. Known for their charmingly simple hand-painted/hand-stamped patterns, sturdy design and overall utility, Bolesławiec pottery has fans across the world who enjoy collecting the colourful kitchenware, ourselves included. We've been coming to this shop since before it was keenly located in the Old Town (shout-out to Olsza II), and - not all shops being equal when it comes to selection and distributors - we're convinced Niebieska Kropka has the best designs, shapes and sizes when it comes to Poland's most popular pottery. All their products are produced by the 'Ceramika Artystyczna Bolesławiec' artistic handicraft cooperative (established in 1950), and the available designs range from the traditional blue dots (niebieski kropki) to more modern and unique patterns you won't find in other shops. The shapes of the mugs and bowls themselves are also a bit more modern in our opinion, and the dishes are practically indestructible. If you looking for a unique, distinctly Polish gift for someone back home, or want to give your own kitchen some colour, you can't miss here. Shopping in their 100m2 showroom is a joy and truly the perfect place to fall in love with Polish pottery, while international shipping (to most countries) makes getting it home even more convenient. Watch out though, it's habit-forming.
