After over a decade in the book business, Massolit is indulging more directly their other passion: baking. Located around the corner from the legendary bookstore, drop by to enjoy fresh brewed coffee, bagels, strawberry-rhubarb pie, chocolate peanut butter cakes, and other American-style delights - all baked on-site daily. The space is small, with half given over to the ovens (in front of which the staff can be seen hard at work), and features a long bar before wall-length windows - an ideal spot for reading the paper, digging into some quiche, and enjoying the Simon & Garfunkel and Neil Young tunes on the stereo. Now a second, smaller location at ul. Targowa 3 in Podgórze.

I love this place. Last time I was there they had strawberry-rhubarb pie. Outstanding!

As it says here, Massolit is a labor of love and not much of a moneymaking enterprise. As such, it has constantly been threatened with closure, especially as rental prices in the Old Town continue to rise. A krakow institution and one of the best english-language bookstores anywhere, it's important to support Massolit as much as possible. Even if you're just having coffee and a bagel, do it, do it here, do it often, it would be heart-breaking to live in a world without Massolit

The best bookstore in Eastern Europe, no question. If it was in the States it would be difficult to rival as well. If you are in Kraków you have to visit this place.

Wonderful. One of Krakow's best kept little gems. A great atmosphere, stirs one's creative juices. The cafe has delicious carrot cake and chocolate chip cookies like back home. Many rooms all full of books, and easy chairs and sofas to curl up in and read, relax. Great children's room with toys and good books on thoughtful subjects and imaginery themes. Generally a great space to be in. It's our 'Homa away from home'. Highly recommend it!
