Polish restaurants like Gąska - offering traditional Polish cuisine in an elegant but homely setting without frills or attempting to reinvent the wheel - are a bit of a dying breed. An excellent choice for the classic Polish 'niedzielny obiad' (Sunday supper), family get togethers or introducing out-of-towners to Polish cuisine, Gąska offers a rich menu of home-cooked classic dishes from beetroot soup (barszcz) to mixed dumplings (pierogi) to traditional breaded pork chops (kotlet schabowy), complemented by a selection of specialty vodkas (nalewki). As the name and decór make plain, goose is their specialty, but everything is delicious, our only gripe would be about some of the portion sizes. The interior is reminiscent of a country manor house, there's a small corner for kids, summer garden and the staff are very accommodating. Simple and seasonal, this is the kind of local dining experience Poles can be proud of.
