Following its name, you might think this festival will take you out into the mountains, but (alas?) you only have to venture as far the ICE Congress Centre. Starting out as a film festival, this niche annual gathering celebrates mountain climbing culture, mountain sports and alpinism. Kraków is arguably the centre of Polish climbing culture, and 2024 represents the growing festival's 22nd year. Each year the Mountain Festival invites respected climbers, mountaineers, alpinists, mountain runners, ski tourers and others in the field to do presentations and speak about their adventures. The most anticipated part of the programme, however, is a review of the year's best mountain films, presented as part of the International Mountain Film Competition and the Polish Mountain Film Competition. As always there will also be no shortage of mountainscapes and other mountain-related paraphernalia for your enjoyment, purchase, and discovery.
