Devoted to raising the profile and appreciation of Nowa Huta, this foundation organises customisable tours of Kraków's unique socialist realist district, which was built by the communist authorities in the early 1950s. Explore PRL paradise in an authentic communist-era vehicle - a Polski Fiat 126p ('Maluch'), Łada, Nysa or Żuk for larger groups. Through archival photos, films and the extensive knowledge of the excellent guides, you'll learn all about the history and anxiety of the Cold War era in Poland and specifically Kraków. A typical tour takes 3-4 hours and includes hotel pick-up, Plac Centralny, the Administration Buildings and underground shelters of the Steelworks, the Lord's Ark Church, a Soviet tank, and can conclude with either a traditional communist-era meal, or rest in a cafe; a typical PRL-era flat can also be visited as part of the tour or separately. Prices start from 140 zł/person, depending on the selected programme and language.
