Algiers is an American band originally from Atlanta, Georgia, nowadays spread across two continents. Their music is made for a world that's divided, unsettled and in constant flux. Growing up in the South they developed a critique of racism, which they want to reflect in their music. The band refuses to sit idly by - they want to participate in the revolution, express their thoughts on history, society, violence, racism and capitalism. Their recent album, The Underside of Power, is a work of political critique that draws on and repurposes aggressive '80s punk, Italian horror soundtracks, modern-day hip-hop and R&B, film, literature and current events.
