As Kazimierz becomes more touristy, pricey and polished, it's nice to discover places like Zalewajka, which have certainly learned and benefited from modern food industry trends, but essentially serve you the same simple, stodgy, economical meals your Polish grandmother would (if you had one). Located on a quiet avenue near the High Synagogue, Zalewajka offers a bright, airy, almost Provencal interior in which to enjoy local staples like blueberry dumplings or potato pancakes with goulash. The house specialty 'zalewajka' soup is delicious, and the entire menu is 20% off Mon-Fri 12:00 - 16:00.
