We do love fine dining and pretending to be fancier than we truly are, but we’re always going to be gritty street food types at heart. We’ll salivate at the thought of a beautiful burrito, go ga-ga for a greasy burger, and you better check yourself if you don’t think we’re queueing for that kebab at 2 in the morning. Best street food in Košice? We won’t use the term ‘best’ (it never seems right when talking about street food), but we’re sure as heck going to devour this stuff. We might even do so sober.
No messing around here, a definite case of what you see is what you get. If you visit a place called ‘Burrito’, you aren’t exactly expecting fish and chips now are you? Burrito is one of the most popular street food spots in Košice, ideal for a quick bite after a couple of beers at the nearby Žil Verne. The only problem is it closes at 10pm. What’s up with that?
They claim to make the best french fries (chips, chips, ya hear) in Slovakia and we aren’t about to disagree. If you’re a fan of the humble potato and the plethora of ways in which it can be moulded into something truly magical, then dip down the narrow street called Poštová and stop by Bramm, where you’ll be treated to some truly marvellous potato magnificence.
Does it get any better than eating a kebab when drunk? Obviously it does, because there is a small amount of guilt involved in the mighty drunken doner, but that isn’t going to stop us devouring late-night kebabs any time soon. Kebab Haus makes the best kebabs in Košice — trust us.
