Melsungen is a small spa town some 30km south of Kassel, but its top tier handball side plays its home games in the city so we’re happy to include them here. Established in 1861, the club has been a fixture in the top tier of German handball through most of the 21st century and has even began to push for bigger honours, finishing no lower than 6th in the last five years. 2016/17 remains the highpoint for the club, when they made it all the way to the EHF Cup quarter-finals before falling to French side Saint-Raphaël Var Handball. Consistency remains the ideal though, and who knows what the future could bring for MT.
