Kassel is home to the last remaining princely bathhouse of the late Baroque era in Germany, so fans of princely bathhouses of the late Baroque era should make this their first port of call in the city. The Marble Bathhouse is fond to the west of the Orangery in Karlsaue Park and was actually used largely for socialising as opposed to bathing, although the two obviously aren’t mutually exclusive. The interior is particularly gorgeous, a glorious artistic canvas featuring detailed murals and intricate panelling. Get your tickets from the front desk at the Orangery and you can check out this neat 3D model of the bath from Hessen Kassel Heritage here.
