A city institution, Kassel’s best bakery and confectionery often sees customers queueing up outside for all the glorious pastries one expects from a top of the line German bakery, all of which seem to go oh so well with a piping hot cup of coffee. Funny that? Almost as if there is legitimate skill and detail put into this marvellous place. The breakfasts are an absolute treat as well. The Allee location — with its picturesque terrace — is perfect for a snack before or after visiting the Bergpark. Also find Streiter north of the centre at Wolfhager Straße 391 (with a palm-tree-lined terrace and ice cream) and to the east at Hartwigstraße 14. You can’t lose.
