Bernhard J. Deubig is the current Lord Mayor of Kaiserslautern, a position served for five years before being put up to vote in the city parliament. The parliament is made up of 19 CDU representatives (conservative), 19 SPD representatives (Labour), 4 FDP representatives (Liberal), 4 Green party representatives and 2 representatives each of the FBU and FWG parties. Interestingly, K-Town also boasts a ‘youth parliament’ with representatives aged 13-17 years old. The purpose is to encourage political involvement at an early age.
