#Wits100 Parade and #Wits100 Light Show
Fri Sep 2The Wits community takes to the streets of Braamfontein with a parade led by specially designed #Wits100 Floats. The procession starts at 13:30 at Origins Centre (Yale Road South entrance) and heads out through the streets of Braamfontein. It will return to the Library Lawns on campus. Floats and processions are in the spirit of RAG, a Wits fundraising tradition that started in 1922. After the parade, join the picnic on the main campus Library Lawns from 15:00 while Wits museums and theatres are open for throughout the day. Joburgers can also look forward to a once-in-a-100-year light show at the piazza as the sun sets on the city of gold from 19:00-21:00. The interactive #Wits100 light show presented by Marcus Neustetter and The Trinity Session tells Wits’ history through images and light projected on the facade of the Wits Great Hall, accompanied by drummers, the Wits Choir, audience participation.
