What to expect at the Curated Maker's Market at Constitution Hill

10 Feb 2025
The Curated Maker's Market is a monthly market at Constitution Hill showcasing Joburg's talented independent artisans, designer-makers, and small businesses, usually taking place on the first Friday of every month. Note: The Curated Maker's Market is closed until further notice (January 2025). Follow @curated_makers on Instagram for updates.

The market promises a gourmet, creative, quirky, design-led and artistic showcase of handmade products from local designers and food makers. The Curated Maker's Market is a great place to pick up hand-crafted creations, fashion and screen prints, plus ceramics, jewellery and homeware, all made in Joburg.

With more than 40 stalls, you'll be hard-pressed to not find something, or a few things, that catch your eye. If you need to take a break from browsing the stalls, there are several pop-up exhibitions for you to enjoy, and you can embark on free tours of Constitution Hill.

Supporting small businesses is one thing, but personally meeting the artisan behind a product is much better. The Curated Maker's Market is all about getting to know the person behind the purchase.

Stock up on scented soya and paraffin candles, diffusers, and more from Mist Candles while you engage with founder and creator, Nontyatyambo Moseki. Let the creations by maker and founder of Still Flame, Precious Nyoni, give your home its own distinct scent, and elevate your style with Cream0 Craft Jewellery handmade by Remo Matseke.

On the fashion front, utility-inspired designs by SeenPha can give you the edge you're after, or show your African pride with reinterpreted Afrocentric pieces in colourful and creative prints by Vuyo Mavuso's Yammie Collectionz. You can also shop the latest designs from market staples Floyd Avenue, Afrikanswiss, Sbhiva, SoulShooz and others. If you need some insight, get your tarot cards read by psychic Natasha McCloy, or get inked by a professional tattoo artist. It would be wise to head there hungry and ready to sample fantastic food offerings: we're talking seriously flavourful tacos (trust us, we've tried them), Asian street food, proudly South African dishes and so much more.

And if your Instagram needs a bit of colour, get some snaps in the Bloom Room, where beautiful moments are brought to life with a pop of colour. The market also includes a flower stall, an art exhibition, and plenty of games for the kids. Read more about the Curated Maker's Market here
