After a two-year Covid-19 break, the annual Vaal Wine Expo is back. Why travel all the way to the Cape when you can sip and savour some of the best South African wines right on the banks of the Vaal River in Gauteng instead? Just over an hour south of the city, it's the perfect excuse for a day trip, or book into one of the local hotels and stay the night.  

Presented by the Vaal River Meander Wine Route, the 18th Annual Vaal Wine Expo at the Stonehaven on Vaal venue on the banks of the Vaal river offers a day of unlimited tastings of over 280 different wines paired with a free voucher for a 30-minute river cruise or R50 off food at the venue. Hosted on Stonehaven's expansive lawns, in addition to the wine tastings there are delicious food stalls, a kiddie's play area and live music to enjoy too, plus lots of great discounts to take advantage from the participating estates.

This year's edition is limited to just 1000 tickets so make sure to book in advance as this is an event that usually sells out and tickets are not on sale on the door.

Stonehaven on Vaal is located on the banks of the Vaal river next to the Baddrift Bridge in Vanderbijlpark (just off the R57). Tickets R250 including unlimited tastings, a souvenir glass and a voucher for a boat ride or food.
