These are crazy numbers. Each year, close to 92 million tons of clothing ends up in landfills while up to 100 billion garments are produced by the fashion industry. Only 20% of textiles are collected for reuse or recycling globally.
So, it's up to us. If we change our habits we can reduce fashion waste and produce more sustainable fashion.
The Linden Market is committed to contributing to a greener, more sustainable future and to reducing clothing waste. Join them. Bring your denim pieces that need a repair or a style transformation, and you'll get to watch them have a fabulous makeover by local designers, or donate them to be repurposed into upcycled products.
How does the Denim Upcycle Pop-Up work?
1. Bring your unused denim with you to The Linden Market.2. Head to the Pre-loved Upcycle Pop-Up, find the Godmother Denim Gallery stall and choose your favourite upcycle style.
3. Leave your denim in the talented hands of their seamstresses and go and enjoy the festive market.
4. Don’t forget to fetch your newly upcycled denim item and pay before you leave.
P.S. If you would like to donate unwanted denim you can drop it off at the donation bin in the Pre-loved section.
Witness artist Sifundo Vilakazi create magic on denim, presented by model Loren Leigh Jenneker in collaboration with Godmother Clothing.
We love this idea! An initiative that aims to showcase the potential of upcycling, reducing waste and embracing sustainability. It's about celebrating the creativity and skill of our local fashion community, and you are invited to be part of the movement.
