Eating lunch or dinner at Thunder Walker restaurant is a unique Joburg experience you shouldn't miss, in a setting that is truly one of the most exquisite heritage spaces in the city. Built as a typical Edwardian building in 1904, with Art Nouveau and Victorian influences, Somerset House (as it was then known) was a bank head office. Today Thunder Walker is operated by JoburgPlaces who offer an excellent array of city walking tours as well as create exclusive and bespoke dining events. 
 
The One Table lunch or dinner booking, designed for this Covid age, offers an opportunity for celebration in this extraordinary setting. There are five private dining spaces available, from a romantic table for two to a long table accommodating up to 30 people or more. It's perfect for a special occasion like a birthday celebration or a wedding anniversary. In fact Thunder Walker has even hosted weddings in this multi-level arcade space. Guests also have the option to book a storytelling dinner that brings to life Joburg's dramatic history. 

The One Table dinners are available every night for booking, while lunch can be booked on weekdays. Saturday and Sunday lunch is served for walk-ins (although it is possible to book a sitting). This is private dining at its best – with excellent food and drinks, and polished service.
