The Troyeville Walk with African Secrets
Sunday Jan 28 10:00
1403 Albertina Sisulu Rd, Troyeville
One of Joburg's oldest neighbourhoods, Troyeville has long been home to artists and activists and has a very colourful history. Stops include the former homes of David Webster, a prominent anti-apartheid activist assassinated in 1989, and of Gandhi, who briefly lived in Troyeville while working as a lawyer. The tour also takes in the area's abundant street art, various immigrant communities and pays a visit to the Spaza Art Gallery. A Troyeville institution, the gallery showcases works by emerging contemporary artists.
Booking is essential. To book email ishvara@africansecrets.co.za. The tour starts at 10:00 at The Troyeville Hotel.
