The Rogers and Hammerstein family favourite The Sound of Music returns to the Teatro stage at Montecasino in this lavish all-star South African production. Swoon as the plucky Maria melts the stern Captain Von Trapp's heart and sing along to one of the most iconic scores in theatre history. This is a timeless love story with a thrilling denouement that sees the Von Trapp Family Singers fleeing Nazi Austria via the Swiss Alps with the help of some wily nuns.

Presented by Pieter Toerien in collaboration with Cape Town Opera, the all-South African cast really brings the musical to life, adding a delightful touch of humour to the production and leaving the audiences enamoured with the Von Trapp family children. South African theatre and television veteran Craig Urbani is a fine choice to fill the shoes of Captain Von Trapp and it's not just his character who is soon won over by Maria. Cape Town Opera soloist Brittany Smith expertly portrays the music-loving governess with warmth the vocal range and talent that have seen her rise to the top of her profession in South Africa.

2024 marks ten years since the musical was last staged at the Teatro, making this the perfect time for fans to revisit the produciton and offering the opportunity for new admirers to fall in love with the timeless soundtrack and heartwarming plot.
