The Linden Market returns to Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Emmarentia this Heritage Day Weekend on Sat, Sep 24 and Sun, Sep 25 with the Spring Edition. It's themed Be Kind, and we love that. One of Joburg's biggest and most popular artisanal markets, there's plenty to keep you busy including more than 150 stalls, food trucks and pop-up bars, a colourful tea garden, craft workshops, kids activities, live music and more.

The Linden Market was established as a platform to support regional artisans, designers, and food producers. It places a focus on supporting small companies, ethically and sustainably sourced goods, and traditional crafts. A vast selection of delectable gourmet food booths are always present, along with a choice of wines and sparkling, local craft brews, and craft gin pop-up bars. There are also plenty of stalls selling hand-crafted items, distinctive fashion and decor, jewellery, and great gifting.

Every edition of The Linden Market brings fresh innovation to the mix, whether it's the vintage section at TLM’s Pre-Loved Block or the lovely tea garden, a popular and colourful place to hang out at the market which had its debut last summer.

The latest addition to the market offering is the Paint & Bubbly Workshop by Simone Russel. If you love drawing and painting, make sure to sign up for one of two Paint & Bubbly workshops. Led by artist and designer Simone Russel the three-hour workshops (Sat, Sun from 09:30–12:30) focuses on painting your own version of an original masterpiece while socialising, and sipping. Tickets for the workshop cost R350 per person and include all your painting materials and of course, some bubbly. Book the Paint & Bubbly Workshop here

There are plenty of ways to support this edition's theme — Be Kind. Be kind to South Africa by supporting local vendors, be kind to the animals by stopping by the Date-A-Dog section where they help rescue dogs find a new home, with visitors getting to take homeless pups out for a short walk around the market, give them some love, and if the "date" goes well, start the process of adoption. You can also be kind to the planet and show some love by shopping for vintage at the market's Pre-Loved Is Re-Loved Block, thrift shopping paradise with a treasure trove of funky and unique pre-loved items.

Yes to hats and sunscreen, families with kids and those with furry friends.

Live music throughout the weekend always makes The Linden Market one of Joburg's liveliest weekend destinations. Find a spot on one of the hay bales by the informal market 'stage' area and enjoy performances by local acts that include Linden Market favourites Rudo Schwim, Liza Miro (Sat and Sun), Lungelo Moyo on Sat, and 4 AM on Sun
