The Festive City at Sandton City programme kicks off Thu, Dec 1 and runs until Tue, Dec 27, alongside extended trading hours at the shops so you can check off everyone on your gift list. Kids (and parents whose legs need a break!) can hop on Hamley's train, as it loops between the various activities in the mall, before landing at Santa's workshop for photos. LEGO's and The Little Generosity Shop by Cadbury Dairy Milk have teamned up to create a festive zone that includes play zones and a brick pit for the kids, and a charity gifting station. Santa Claus lands in Joburg Dec 1-24 for festive photo opportunities for kids on the nice list.Protea Court
Look out for the spectacular eight-metre-high Disney hot air balloon, set up to inspire donations towards Reach for a Dream, a charity that supports children living with critical illness.
Level 6
Beloved chocolate brand Chuckles stages a Life's a Ball activation outside Woolworths on Level 6, with exclusive access to the brand's seasonal sweet treats and the chance to personalise your Chuckles gift purchases before heading home. Gift-wrapping will be available for a small donation towards the Sandton SPCA at a wrapping station on Level 6 near H&M Home, as well as Level 4 opposite Jet. (For those eyeing an extra luxurious gift wrapping experience, Dior is hosting a wrapping kiosk on Level 6.)
Nelson Mandela Square Live on the Square free concerts
Head to Nelson Mandela Square for Live on the Square, a series of free live music events every Saturday and Sunday, now on through Dec 24. Save the dates, as each weekend brings a new artist or artists to the stage.
