The Brothers Size at Market Theatre
Tarell Alvin McCraney is the writer of the Oscar-winning screenplay for the acclaimed film Moonlight (which also won Best Picture the same year). His play The Brothers Size came to the Market Theatre in 2012 as part of the annual Black History Month showcase and returns again, this year with an all-South African cast directed by the phenomenal James Ngcobo.

The play is a story of two brothers in the American south, Ogun Size (played by Nhlakanipho Manqele), and Oshoosi Size (played by Katlego Chale) that powerfully explores the complexities of brotherly relationships against a backdrop of West African mythology and with deft use of poetry, music and dance.

Straight from prison and on parole, fun-loving Oshoosi Size is living with his older brother Ogun, the latter named after the Yoruba god of hard work. Enter Elegba, Oshoosi’s Creole ex-prison mate, whom Ogun does not trust...
