Maboneng's independent cinema The Bioscope and the Embassy of Argentina in South Africa present this annual weekend festival dedicated to contemporary Argentinean films. All film screenings are free, but advance booking is recommended.

There are three films showing at this year's Argentine Film Festival:

Fri Aug 23 at 19:00 Rojo
Set in Argentina during the mid-1970s, Benjamín Naishtat’s hypnotic drama follows a successful lawyer whose picture-perfect life begins to unravel when a private detective comes to his seemingly quiet small town and starts asking questions.

Sat Aug 24 at 16:00 Florianópolis Dream
Lucrecia, Pedro, and teenage kids Julian and Florencia set out from Buenos Aires one sweltering day in a Renault to vacation in the Brazilian resort of Florianópolis. A tale of first love, past lovers, fateful encounters, and fleeting joys.

Sun Aug 25 at 16:00 Showroom
Without work, Diego moves his family from the Delta of Tigre to the outskirts of Buenos Aires and heads out to work in a fashion showroom, becoming an almost maniacally obsessed salesman teetering on the verge of madness.
