<em>Can't Remember, Can't Forget</em> is a solo exhibition by celebrated South African artist Sue Williamson, whose work is known for its exploration of South African history, memory and identity. In this exhibition Williamson presents two new videos <em> It's a Pleasure to Meet You, </em>and <em>What is this thing called freedom? </em>alongside a range of other mixed-media works from the past three decades of her career.<em> </em>In her newest videos Williamson<em> </em>talks to South Africans about their past experiences of violence, inviting them to reflect on present day South Africa 20 years after the Truth and Reconciliation Commission.<br /> <br /> The exhibition opens on Human Rights Day (Tue Mar 21) at 16:30 with a panel discussion on Trauma, Memory and the Past led by Professor Pumla Gobodo-Madikizela, Research Chair for the Studies in Historical Trauma and Transformation at Stellenbosch University.<br /> <br /> Note that on Human Rights Day entrance to the museum is free.
