<p>South Africa's leading fine art auction house Strauss & Co presents a unique opportunity to purchase from an extensive range of contemporary and historic artworks, books and decorative arts from the comfort of your screen.</p> <p>Strauss & Co's online auction is also an accessible way for first-timers to get a taste for buying and collecting art. There's plenty of time to browse and read up on the artists before putting in your bid, and reserve prices start from as low as R3,000.</p> <p>The start of the September auction will coincide with the FNB Joburg Art Fair (September 7-10), <strong>going live on Friday, Sep 8 at 08:00 and closing on Monday, Sep 18 at 20:00</strong>.</p> <p>Highlights of the auction (which includes paintings, sculpture and art on paper in 550 lots) will be showcased by Strauss & Co and include a miniature oil by Allerley Glossop, <em>Burning the Grass in Bergville</em> (estimate R3 000 – 5 000), a trio of walking sticks by Mashego Johannes Segogela <em> </em>(R3 000 – 5 000 each), a colour digital print <em>Officers & Gents VII</em> by Robert Hodgins (R8 000 - 12 000) as well as 15 other individual Hodgins’ with estimates from as low as R10 000.
