Soweto Fashion Week puts South African fashion on the stage in the country's most famous township (we think it's more of a city). This year's theme is a trans-seasonal presentation showcase that sees seven selected designers presenting fashion trends that have surfaced after Covid-19, including the evolution of colour blocking and the incorporation of Dopamine dressing (basically bold colour that sends a rush of joy to your brain and those around you). Labels to look out for include Dejavu Not A Secret, UJU Designs, N.O.T.E, Fresh Wear, SIBU, FDB and Makgale presenting five of their best designs.
"After Covid 19 and a two year block on events, our passion is still consistent unearthing top talent in the fashion industry. Soweto is alive with creativity, with many designers longing to establish themselves on big stages and that’s what we are all about." says founder, Stephen Manzini.
Promoting the work of young black designers from townships, as well as those from urban areas and abroad, the fashion week programme includes catwalk shows, beauty workshops and live entertainment.
Please note the Soweto Fashion Week is a one-day event.
