Afrobeat-jazz collective Shabaka and The Ancestors returns to the Untitled Basement stage. Helmed by Mercury Prize nominated British-Barbadian saxophonist and clarinettist Shabaka Hutchings, Shabaka and The Ancestors is a distinctly afro-futurist band made up of some of the hottest jazz luminaries on Joburg's contemporary jazz scene. “The grand scheme of this sound is to present the musical language that I normally associate with my UK bands in the context of South African musicians and musical sensibilities” explains band leader Shabaka.
