Sadie’s Bistro in Marshalltown is a tribute to chef Julian Ribeiro’s grandmother, Sadie Ribeiro (nee Naddaf), who embodied the philosophy that "food is love". Her South African and Lebanese roots are reflected throughout the menu, with her warmth and culinary skills brought to life by Ribeiro, an advertising executive-turned-professional chef. With over 30 years of experience as a talented home chef and food lover, Ribeiro swapped the boardroom for the kitchen, honing his culinary skills at Capsicum cooking school and Cape Town’s renowned The Test Kitchen (now The Pot Luck Club).

Sadie’s Bistro officially opened its doors in July 2024 along Main Street in the Main Street Mining District in the City Centre, a lovely strip that includes the city's historic mining headquarters and open piazzas designed for pedestrian life. 

Expect bistro comfort food classics, with a menu as extensive as it is tasty. Whether you're in the mood for breakfast baskets, Benedicts, housemade pastries, or craving an omelette or tramezzini, there’s something for everyone. Signature dishes include the Lebanese mezze plate, and the ever-popular pasta aglio, olio e peperoncino. For those with a sweet tooth, don’t miss the housemade churros.
