A fantastic exhibition for the whole family, the annual SA Taxi Foundation Awards Exhibition showcases entries by young and up and coming artists of contemporary artworks that have been designed to wrap around minibus taxis. <br /> <br /> The awards are designed to bring art out of the gallery and onto the streets with the work of six artists selected to emblazon ten minibus taxis travelling routes in various corners of South Africa. It is a project that gives young and up and coming artists exposure while also beautifying the everyday journeys of South African commuters. The original works are for sale and a portion of the proceeds go to a scholarship fund at Artist Proof Studios. <br /> <br /> Throughout April Lizamore & Associates hosts an exhibition of the work of all 30 of this year's SA Taxi Foundation Awards semi-finalists, covering a wide range of themes and mediums. This year's winning entry is by Banele Khoza, and the finalists include Mashudu Nevhutalu, Lebohang Kganye, Duma Mtimkulu, Mpho Mokgadi, and Jabu Nkomo. The works exhibited are a fascinating and vibrant array of artworks in different media including painting, photography, ceramics, jewellery and sculpture and they cover a wide range of themes that relate to the life of black commuters who primarily use the minibus taxi system.
