Entrance to the museums of the national heritage landmark Constitution Hill is free on December 16 in honour of the national Reconciliation Day public holiday.

The Day of Reconciliation holiday came into effect following the end of apartheid in 1994 and is an occasion intended to foster national unity and reconciliation. This date was chosen as it was on this day in 1961 that Umkhonto we Sizwe (the Spear of the Nation, the armed wing of the ANC) was founded, a date that is also significant to Afrikaaners as the day when the Boers defeated the Zulus at the Battle of Blood River in 1838.

Free entrance tickets must be booked online in advance. Book yours here.
