Joburg's annual Pride Parade is the largest such event on the African continent with thousands joining in the Mardi Gras-like parade through the streets of Joburg. Unfortunately, as with everything else, coronavirus restrictions have put a serious dampener on the ability to host such a large and joyous parade this year. Instead throughout October there are a variety of smaller LGBTQI pride events happening around the city.

The month kicks off with a party hosted at Newtown Music Factory (formerly known as Bassline) by Pride of Africa in collaboration with socialite Lebo Molaolwa's Boys in Heels. The day-night party is a celebration of Joburg's most successful queer entertainers with DJs and live performances throughout the day.
