Winner of the 2019 Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize, Phenyo Melody Madiba presents her latest body of works, that are inspired by black femininity, black consciousness and the expression of an unapologetic black beauty. A Manifestation of self taps into the expression of emotions, as seen from a black woman’s perspective. Focusing predominantly on black women at different stages of their life and personal growth and fusing goldish orange, African bronze and blue pigments in her canvases, blackness is expressed in Madiba's works as something divine.
