In what promises to be a weekend packed with award-winning films from around the world, The Bioscope independent cinema presents the best films from the 2016 International Oberhausen Short Film Festival. The festival is screened in two programmes; the 2016 Award Winners Programme and the Artist Film Programme.

The Award Winners Programme shines the spotlight on the main winners of the 2016 Oberhausen Short Film Festival. Highlights include Louise Carrin’s candid documentary Venusia, which gave audiences the chance to observe and listen to an intimate conversation between the owner of a luxury brothel and an untalented prostitute, and Lav Diaz’s gripping sci-fi film with a political angle, The Day Before The End, set in 2050 in The Philippines. The Artist Film Programme features six works created by filmmakers and artists that grant unusual glimpses into the state of international art today.
