Now an international chain, Nando's had humble beginnings in Rosettenville, the heart of Johannesburg's old Portuguese community. Famous for their finger-licking chicken, flame-grilled with lemon and herb sauce or with varying degrees of peri-peri (chilli sauce), they are a cut way above what most consider fast food.

With the opening of a Nando's store at Barlow Retail Park, the commercial leg of Barlow Park Lifestyle Estate in Sandton, the chicken restaurant chain decided to design a flagship casa (as Nando's restaurants are called) that is one of only four service restaurants in Gauteng where you can sit, order, and enjoy your meal. The food is as tasty as you’ve come to expect from Nando’s and all the design elements are unique to this store (each one of their restaurants has its own design inspired by art pieces from local South African artists), from an art in motion feature wall by Meshack “Shakes” Tembani to beautiful light displays created by Thabiso Mjo from Mash.T Design Studio.
