MiHa Eatery
The restaurant opened in Sept 2022, taking over Pigalle’s prime location above Mezepoli. After significant renovations, the space is more open and airy, and lighter than the previous restaurant. For those who remember Pigalle well, the glassed-off bar has been converted into a private dining area and the counter has been pushed back to allow for bigger tables with spacious seating.
This family-run restaurant, owned by husband and wife team Abdulla and Tasneem Miya, is their second venture. The first was Clenergy in Greenside which sadly closed due to its opening unfortunately coinciding pre-Covid timing. They’ve brought elements from Clenergy like the option to swop out a regular wrap for gluten-free, and a dedicated vegan menu, but in general MiHa is a completely different restaurant with a focus on classic bistro dining – with a something for everyone menu.
The name MiHa represents Abdulla and Tasneem’s two families joining (the Miya and Hassim families) and their combined effort in creating the menu. Coincidentally, in many Hispanic countries, the homonym ‘mija’ is a common term of endearment, meaning ‘my daughter’, further emphasising the familial connection of the eatery. MiHa's extensive menu includes grills, salads, sushi, and burgers, with brioche buns and burger patties made in-house. Must-try menu items include ribeye on the bone and MiHa’s signature Portuguese prawns.
MiHa aims to create an accessible dry restaurant for all, not just for their halaal customers, but for any diners seeking an elegant non-alcoholic dining experience. The light and spacious restaurant is a great lunch spot to sip a ‘no-jito’ on the balcony overlooking the piazza.
