One of Joburg's oldest parks, the park was laid out in 1925 and was renamed in 1939 in honour of Joburg city councillor, AC Kingston Frost. Gently sloping down into one of the city's many rocky valleys, there's a great view of the city skyline and the rugged Melville Koppies from the top entrance to the park where the parking is.
Although not always in the greatest condition, in a reflection of this suburb's strong spirit of community activism and collaboration, the park is kept clean and tidy by members of the community who have taken it upon themselves to take care of this space. Look out for occasional community-organised markets and yard sales hosted here, organised by the #BrixtonBeautiful community forum, and in winter keep an eye out for the many interesting flowering succulents.
