Joburg Heritage Walking Tour — Tea in Troyeville

In celebration of Heritage Day, the Johannesburg Heritage Foundation (also often known simply as Joburg Heritage) leads a special walking tour through Troyeville, one of the city's oldest neighbourhoods, on September 24.

The tour starts at the recently restored Troyeville House, guided by historians and heritage activists Brett McDougall and David Fleminger. The starts with tea a Troyeville House and a talk about the history and architecture of this unique heritage building. From here the walking and exploring starts with a guided stroll through the surrounding neighbourhoods to visit local landmarks such as the house of activist David Webster, Mahatma Gandhi’s former residence and prominent Art Deco and Art Nouveau buildings.

The tour starts at Troyeville House (cnr Pretoria and Clarence Sts) at 14:00 and lasts approximately three hours.
