Louis Botha Avenue was one of the two roads that connected the Boer homesteads on the Witswatersrand with the northern city of Pretoria and beyond and actually predates the city of Joburg itself. In the 130 years since the discovery of gold in Joburg, this main road has transformed dramatically and is currently undergoing one of its most far-reaching revolutions: the 'Corridor of Freedom' development project.

Join Prof. Katherine Munro and Brett McDougall on this unique bus tour of Louis Botha Avenue which explores the various heritage landmarks that line the road, like Circle Court in Hillbrow and Campbell House in Waverly, while also grappling with the pressing questions brought about by the introduction of the new Corridors of Freedom project and the rapid densification in the areas surrounding it.

The tour lasts approximately three hours and booking is essential. The tour starts at Sunnyside Park Hotel in Parktown.
