International Museum Day will take place on Thu, May 18 under the theme "Museums, Sustainability and Well-being,". The day highlights the role of museums contributing to the sustainable development of the communities in which they exist and how they benefit towards creating positive change in society.

In celebration, the Origins Centre at Wits University is offering free entrance on Thur, 18 May from 09h00-16h00, however, there will still be some costs associated with guided tours and groups. You can also catch Doris Bloom's exhibition, Bird Bone Whistler, an exploration of the places we inhabit, both their histories and the material things that occupy our lives today.

On Sat, 20 May entrance will be discounted for the centre's monthly, "Mental Health Walkabout" with Dr Kirti Ranchod under the topic, Finding Calm with Art.

The cost of Saturday's entrance and walkabout is R60 for adults and R30 for students, children and pensioners. Tickets are limited tickets so get yours soon, note that tickets are only available for purchase online.
