Winner of the 2018 Standard Bank Young Artist Award for Visual Art, Igshaan Adams presents his latest body of work at the expansive Standard Bank Art Gallery in the Joburg city centre. In this multidisciplinary exhibition titled, When Dust Settles, Adams continues to explore the intersectional aspects of his own identity and particularly his background as a gay, liberal Muslim man raised in Cape Town's segregated 'coloured' community by Christian grandparents. His eclectic multi-sensory, large-scale installations bring together aspects of sculpture, textiles, found objects, furniture and performance to create an immersive environment filled with elements, such as string curtains and carpets, that are often closely associated with Cape Malay culture.
