Ian Grose brings a new body of paintings and drawings to Stevenson Gallery for his exhibition People and Time. Over the past few months Grose has been drawing people he encounters in everyday life with this drawing informing subsequent paintings of them. The portraits capture the different states and characters of the people Grose is painting and feel intimate snapshots. Speaking on the work Grose says, "There's a feeling or a formal idea that I'm going for, and I'm doing my best to embody it in the material. It's good to feel like I'm just along for the ride, and that the resulting painting, despite all the stages of planning and execution, comes as a total surprise."
The exhibition opens on Sat, Feb 11 from 10:00 to 13:00.
