We recently popped into Hyatt House Rosebank to work for a day, soaking in the sleek, yet comforting atmosphere while we mixed business with leisure.
For a start, Hyatt House Rosebank is well located, a short walk from Rosebank Mall and The Zone@Rosebank with a plethora of retail and entertainment options, and the buzzing Oxford Parks which has a superb crop of eateries. Public transport is also an easy find when staying at Hyatt Hotel with the Gautrain station and Gautrain bus stop just a few metres away.
On entry you'll be greeted by friendly staff and an inviting seating area, with lounging options. Walk a few steps further and you'll find the dining area filled with natural light. We worked from a small meeting room next to the dining area. Of course it had all the mod cons and a door to the terrace for breaking away. More about that later though.
The message at Hyatt House Rosebank is be at home – so its amenities include a chic convenience store with its own Starbucks counter, a 24-hour gym, self-service laundry and complimentary grocery shopping for guests staying for 30 consecutive days.
Although Hyatt House has 80 guest rooms, including 49 studio guest rooms and 31 apartment-style suites with fully equipped kitchens, cushy living rooms, spacious bedrooms with twin or king-size beds, and contemporary bathrooms — the hotel's setup feels more like an intimate residential space.
Each suite is spacious enough to house a small family, and the sunny rooftop and pool area are great for lounging while sipping on a drink and also perfect for guests with their own visitors to entertain. Being a Halaal hotel there is also a prayer room for Muslim guests' consideration.
The Collective — Hyatt House's al fresco dining restaurant — serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. The spicy lamb and coriander pizza come highly recommended and we absolutely loved the fresh watermelon and Panzanella salads. The H-Bar, located on the pool deck, also stocks a delicious selection of snacks and beverages for visitors who'd love to dine while admiring a stunning Joburg sunset. Guests who prefer to cook can whip up something on a state-of-the-art Smeg stove, fitted in each suite. Cleaning up after is also not an issue with a dishwasher fitted in all rooms as well.
The pool deck on the 8th floor is available to book for private functions such as birthdays, baby showers or cocktail hour. The whimsically lit deck at The Collective is also an ideal space to reserve for groups, and shisha is available for hire.
Although The Collective is a certified halaal kitchen and restaurant, the rooftop bar is licensed to sell alcohol. The bar is located away from the kitchen and restaurant, where guests are prohibited from consuming alcohol, to avoid cross contamination of cutlery and crockery. Guests are, however allowed to consumer their own store bought alcoholic beverages in comfort of their private suites.
Those travelling for business will be impressed by the inviting meeting room. We especially enjoyed the fresh air and ample sunlight at this space's private deck during our day visit. The vast selection of refreshments guests using the meeting room are treated to throughout the day is also fantastic for keeping busy minds engaged with professional tasks.
Hyatt House Rosebank's meeting room can seat up to 10 people at a spacious wooden table. Each chair is carefully positioned to have a full view of the strategically placed screen, making the space great for business presentations. Guests must arrange sessions in the meeting room at the reception in advance.
