Now Hudson's is all grown up with a sizeable menu that includes pizza, salads and plenty of non-burger options like BBQ beef ribs and Cajun grilled chicken nachos, plus, on the flip side, a wide range of vegan menu items. With Cape Town, as of early 2020, being South Africa's capital of all things vegan it's no surprise that Hudson's was one of the first if not the first, to fly the vegan flag.
But let's not forget the beef burger options which include everything from The Plain Jane, the no-fuss burger, and The Wiseguy, with sweet pepper relish, jalapeño and chipotle chili paste, to The Samurai, a mega 200g slow-roasted pork belly burger with hoisin sauce. Burgers mostly come in two sizes — 180g and 250g. We recommend the sliders for the undecided, 3 miniature burgers with a combo of fillings. Sides are extra so if you're scaling up it's going to be pricey.
The vegan menu here is made even more attractive by offering a half-price special on Mondays to encourage #meatfreemondays. You’ll find Beyond Meat on the menu, with one of the hit items on offer the Houdini Burger with vegan mozzarella, ‘Vacon’, cos lettuce, tomato, house pickles and mustard. The other top-listed item is the Influencer burger — Cajun crumbed schnitzel, rocket, vegan mayo, vegan mozzarella, tomato, grilled pineapple, pickled red cabbage, and house pickles.
There's a sizeable drinks menu and plenty of options for mixing your gin, plus lots of beers, whiskeys and shooter options. All the better for enjoying Hudson’s lively atmsophere.
