After a three and a half year absence from the local music scene, critically acclaimed guitarist and singer Gary Thomas is back in Joburg to play this once-off concert at The Bioscope in Maboneng. Since his last visit, Thomas has been on an epic thirty date tour of Europe and has been working on recording a new album with a new musical collective Moodship. 

Thomas's music has been described by Rolling Stone magazine as "left-field indie-folk mastery" while Cape Argus described him as "a psychedelic one-man anti-folk jamming machine”. Singing with two microphones with varying reverb effects, Thomas has a distinctly percussive style of playing the guitar, mixing rapid virtuoso strumming and a finger picking style to produce a complex multi-layered sound that is complemented by a wooden stomp box and a violin bow.

One of South Africa's most original acoustic musicians, this rare Joburg concert is a not-to-be-missed event.
